6 Proven Benefits of Vitamin C Skincare

Picture
1. Vitamin C Skincare Stimulates Collagen & Elastin Synthesis
Vitamin C is a wonderful skincare ingredient for helping 'plump up' your skin, and it stimulates your skins own production of collagen and elastin. That ‘elastin’ word might sound a bit familiar, it’s one of those super stretchy fibers you’ll find in jeggings and tights. It does pretty much the same thing in your skin. Collagen & elastin are like your skins very own  support system!
Skin can sometimes fall behind in its production of vitamin C which can leave skin looking sallow, and eventually leading to fine lines.
It can happen when we go through a crazy busy and nonstop period of time (as your skin energy gets diverted to other areas) and it also just happens naturally as the clock ticks on and we have the honor of growing older.

2. Vitamin C Skincare Reduces Hyperpigmentation
You know those pesky ‘dark marks’ that crop up? Well those dark marks are caused by the same thing that gives your skin a tan… melanin, it’s basically just like hair dye for your skin. When skin has been damaged, the healing processes that get to work also trigger skin cells near the damage to make more melanin, creating more 'dark spots'.  We don’t fully understand ‘scientifically’ why this happens yet.  Melanin is your skin’s natural way of defending against UV rays, so the more melanin you have in your skin, the more your skin is naturally protected from future UV damage.
Vitamin C skincare will help to speed up your skin’s natural exfoliation rate which means areas of hyperpigmentation or 'dark spots' get lightened a little quicker.

3. Vitamin C Skincare Reduces The Incidence of Age Spots
Age spots are another ‘skin thing’ that’s cause is melanin. The brown marks on your skin such as age spots, freckles, moles, and hyperpigmentation are a melanin build-up. Age spots happen because as we gracefully age, our skin gets a bit lazy. Vitamin C skincare helps to treat existing age spots because of the same reason it treats hyperpigmentation, it speeds up your skins natural exfoliation. Vitamin C will also reduce your chances of developing future age spots or even prevent them if you have none at all!     It helps to prevent the UV damage that causes skin cells to go into melanin producing over-drive. UV rays over time, leave a secret stamp of ‘effected skin’ that doesn’t show until years later.

4. Vitamin C Skincare Brightens Skin Tone
Vitamin C skincare will brighten up and even out skin tone by speeding up the natural exfoliation rate and it pairs that with an ability to manage skin pigmentation/make it move around skin evenly. Skin cell turnover rate (exfoliation) naturally slows with time. That’s a big contributor to skin looking un-even.

5. Vitamin C Skincare Protects Skin Against Sun Damage
This little skin miracle worker is a superstar antioxidant (and it works even better, with vitamin E, that’s why you’ll see vitamin C+E skincare serums). Antioxidants help to protect against 1 of the 2 aging factors under our control…  the sun & its damaging UV rays (the other is sugar!). Antioxidants help to stop skin from aging. They are skin defenders that fight against ‘free radical damage’.

6. Vitamin C Skincare Increases The Resilience of Skin
Vitamin C helps to get your skin back into shape, quickly. It’s a well-known helper for wound healing, which means anytime your skin is suffering from spots or grazes or burns then if you’ve been using some vitamin C skincare, it should spring back quickly.
